Immigration medical exams are required for individuals applying for citizenship, seeking permanent residency or who are applying for a Green Card. These applicants must have an immigration physical by a certified Civil Surgeon.
As per USCIS medical requirements, the civil surgeon's medical exam must include a search for any signs of infectious diseases involving the entire body. The results of the examination will be provided to an immigration officer and may be shared with appropriate United States Health Authorities. Our designated Civil Surgeon will perform the required immigration medical exam (I-693) in accordance with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services for immigrant or employers who hire employees originating from another country.
Generally it takes about 4-5 days to get all the above steps completed
If your QuantiFERON Gold TB Blood test is positive you will be required to have a chest x-ray and the cost is not included in the original price since it may not be required. The chest x-ray can be performed at our facility for an additional fee.
The exam includes a physical, medical history review, blood tests for TB, syphilis, other infections, a urine test, and a vaccination review.
Conditions like active tuberculosis, untreated syphilis/gonorrhea, lack of required vaccinations, or drug addiction can lead to inadmissibility.
It’s USCIS Form I‑693 (Report of Medical Examination & Vaccination Record), which the civil surgeon fills and seals for submission.
The in‑office exam may take 20–45 minutes, but labs (blood tests, X-rays) can take several days to return.
Once completed, the civil surgeon signs the I‑693 form. That sealed form is then used in your immigration filing, timing depends on how fast your lab results come.
Your civil surgeon gives you a sealed I‑693 report. You then submit it to USCIS (typically with your application or at your interview).
If you test positive (e.g., for TB), you may be referred for treatment. Depending on the condition, you might need a waiver for inadmissibility.
Yes. The civil surgeon reviews your past medical history and vaccination records as part of the exam.
